When is Black Friday 2016 ?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. This year, Black Friday 2016 will be on Friday, November 25, 2016.

Here’s the full lowdown on the Big shopping day which has become mega popular with Irish shoppers in the last few years.
It might not even be Halloween yet, but Christmas is just around the corner and while you might not even be thinking about your Christmas shopping yet, Black Friday is on the way.

Retailers across Ireland slash prices on the last Friday in November ahead of the Christmas shopping bonanza.

Black Friday has only recently made its way to Irish shores but it’s fast become a very important day for bargain hunters.

Here is everything you need to know about Black Friday:
What is Black Friday?
Black Friday originated in America, where sales traditionally kicked off the day after Thanksgiving. Much like the tradition of Stephen’s Day sales here, both now exist in Ireland.

Huge discounts on everything from gifts to clothes to electrical goods have been seen in Irish stores in recent years to get people spending.

Huge sales are just around the corner
When is Black Friday?
Black Friday falls this year on Friday, November 25 – but sometimes shops like to get in early so keep your eyes peeled for amazing deals from the Monday onwards.

Why is it called Black Friday?
It’s not definitely known but it is thought that businesses in the US chart their losses in red ink and their gains in black ink.

And Black Friday can often be a pretty decent day for profits, hence the black ink, but it’s still up for debate.

What time do the sales start?
Some shops will open early, while others will stick to normal hours, and we’ll know more nearer the time. But if you’re an avid online shopper, plenty of deals will go live at midnight so bargain hunters will be glued to their laptop screens.

Is there ever trouble at these sales?

Possibly – you know how people can get when there’s bargains at stake. There are often chaotic scenes in the US and the trouble even made its way over here last year as there where shocking scenes when bargain hunters brawled in an Irish supermarket.
